The Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energy (HI ERN) investigates and develops material- and process-based solutions for a climate-neutral, sustainable, and cost-effective utilization of renewable energies. The institute works on the structural and functional characterization, modelling and processing of materials relevant to hydrogen and solar technology. One main goal is the understanding of performance-loss-process relationship with imaging techniques.
Photovoltaic electricity is essential for future energy supply. One common problem for solar modules is the degradation and the corresponding energy loss. To maintain the highest level of energy production and minimize the risk of further damages and electric yield losses, highly sensitive imaging techniques are necessary, like luminescence. For those high throughput method, which not only increase the luminescence signal but also noise and in-motion unsharpness, post processing is necessary.

Tasks:
 Measuring of the point spread function for different camera setups
 Reduction of noise for different camera setups
 Developing of an easy algorithm for image restauration for common camera/optics problems (Flat-field correction, Vignetting)
